History
Since October 2006, individuals, agencies and churches have met to discuss community development in Cleveland. In 2009, we have held several prayer meetings. Here are a few of the highlights.
November 6, 2008 – Mark Zimmerman, WCRF Radio – Mark Zimmerman, host of the morning show on WCRF, encouraged people to volunteer in urban ministries by giving examples from his personal experience and those of some of the 400 people who began to volunteer after his 2007 “1 Night on the Street” event.
March 6, 2008 – Dr. Eugene Sanders, CEO of Cleveland Schools – Dr. Sanders shared his perspective on the needs of the children and youth in Cleveland and some of the initiatives for the 2008-2009 schoolyear.
September 26, 2007 – Mayor Frank Jackson, Mayor of the City of Cleveland – Mayor Jackson shared his vision for the City of Cleveland and the critical role the faith community can play in the process.
June 7, 2007 - Rev. Chuck Warnock, Pastor of Chatham Baptist Church in Chatham, VA – Rev. Warnock spoke “Building Without a Blueprint: Walking Alongside Others to Transform a City” on how his small congregation developed effective collaborations with community members to build a community youth center, host a Boys & Girls Club, launch artist-driven open-mike night for teens and a summer drama club, form a community arts organization led by Virginia Tech and more.
